Lito Lapid who was born on October 25, 1955, in Porac, Pampanga, is a Filipino actor-turned-politician. He served as a Senator in the Philippines when he chose to leave the limelight for a while.
Lito Lapid is the fifth child of Jose Lapid and Eleuteria Mercado who completed his elementary education at the Porac Central School and his secondary education St. Catherine Academy in Porac in 1972.
By the year 1992, Lito Lapid decided to ran under the opposition block Nationalist People’s Coalition as vice governor of Pampanga and he was able to defeat the vice governor Cielo Macapagal-Salgado.
His career in politics didn’t end there. In 1995, he ran as the governor of Pampanga and won.
Today, Lito Lapid is already back in showbiz and is currently a part of the long-running Kapamilya primetime series, ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ alongside his son, Mark Lapid and Coco Martin.
Lapid had two sons and two daughters with his wife Marissa Tadeo.
Apart from being known as a veteran actor, he is also known for his rags-to-riches story. In fact, he was once living a simple life in the province, but with hard work and perseverance, he now has a mansion in his hometown.
He recounted how he used to feed on rice, water, and salt. But today, those are just a part of the meals he eats.
His house isn’t the fancy type. It sure is luxurious but it still got the traditional style in it!
