Choosing a healthy lifestyle is a must for everybody. It is a basic thing that one person must consider in order to enjoy the life that God gave him or her. For many people, health is the most important thing that is why they are doing their best to take care of themselves.
But what if a person chooses to have a very healthy lifestyle and yet suddenly died because of a deadly disease?

This is what happened to Jovelyn Mendoza Maniebo’s brother, Patrick Maniebo. According to her Facebook post, the 18-year-old boy does not suffer from any disease, very healthy and very well. However, he still faced a tragic death which shocked almost all of his relative. Patrick succumbed to a rare form of disease which only started from a severe headache.

Si Patrick Mendoza Maniebo ay hindi po sakitin, malusog po siya at masigla, kaya hindi po talaga kami maka paniwala sa sinapit niya hindi dahil malusog ka, masigla at walang sakit okay ka iba parin po talaga ang may monthly check up” said Jovelyn in the opening of her post.

Jovelyn narrated that everything was well with her brother when he suddenly felt an extreme headache. They asked his bosses to permit him to take a leave from work so he could rest. He felt relieved but after a few days, the pain came back. He then had a seizure one night. They decided to take him to the nearest hospital.

Patrick suffered from multiple seizures so his doctors decided to take him to the ICU. They injected him all his needed medicines to stop the seizure although the medicines are already affecting his internal organs. After a few days of examination, the doctor found out that Patrick was infected with a viral disease known as “encephalitis”. His brain was swelling and according to the experts who examined his case, he got infected when he inhaled the contaminated air and the oxygen went directly to his brain.

Encephalitis is a viral neurological disease that affects many people even if they are healthy. It is a condition where a patient’s brain swells or his immune system mistakenly attacks his brain tissues.
They did everything to save Patrick. The day came that his vital signs became stable and they were expecting him to recover soon enough. All they are waiting is for him to wake up. However, what they thought be a recovery turns into a tragedy as Patrick failed to wake up anymore and suddenly died. This became more painful for his family.
