Based on the report by ABS-CBN News, Canada has a huge mushroom industry that is worth approximately 900 million Canadian dollars. This is the reason why a certain Suzette Alcaro who was formerly a domestic helper in Hong Kong opted to go to Canada and applied as a mushroom picker. She revealed that by simply harvesting mushrooms in a farm in Sharon, Ontario, Canada, she earned a monthly salary of $3,600 or an amount equivalent to almost P150,000.
According to Lily Miranda Hammer, A&L Hammer Workforce Management CEO and President, aside from the competitive salary that an individual can earn in working as a mushroom picker, they also have a great chance of becoming a permanent resident of the said country.
“Once na naka-work permit ka as an agricultural worker for one year then ‘yung employer mo may option to apply your OINP o Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program…Isang taon ka lang naka work permit puwede ka nang i-apply ng PR (permanent resident) status here.”
She added the interested individuals don’y need to be college graduates. As long as you are hardworking enough, then you are already qualified for the job.
For those who are interested, take note that there is no recruitment fee, however, you still need to procure an amount of $5,000 or more than P200,000 for the required three months of training.
Aside from that, you are also expected to have your personal passport, working visa, and other necessary documents for employment abroad.
Moreover, netizens shared different reactions on the news.Some could not help but comment on the amount of training fee, saying that $5,000 is just too much. While others, advise those who are planning abroad to be cautious in dealing with recruitment agencies.
