This Little Boy Was Born With A Huge Birthmarks And Moles That Covered His Half Body

A little boy named Dylan shocked the world when he was born five years ago. Right there and then, the doctors realized that there’s something wrong with the newborn baby. The skin on his back was dark red and there were black liver spots all over his body. The marks found in his body were similar to birthmarks and moles, which is, pretty shocking, as well.

It turns out that the newborn baby was suffering from a serious skin condition called Congenital Melanocytic Nevus, wherein nearly 80 percent of his skin was covered with birthmarks and moles.

The doctors then told the mother of the child that this would be pretty challenging since the child had to go through several surgeries in the first years of his life.
Patients who suffer from Congenital Melanocytic Nevus have high risks for skin cancer that’s why it’s important for parents and doctors to monitor the changes on their birthmarks.

The thing is, Dylan has the biggest of all birthmarks right on his back. The birthmark was s huge that the doctors are thinking of surgically removing it, which is not easy since it would require transplanting skin from other parts of the body to cover up what they would remove from his back.
As Dylan was growing up, the doctors have decided to do something even more complicated. For his body to produce enough skin for transplants, they had to insert implants on his body.
For months, he carried the implants and his skin started growing bigger and bigger.
At the age of 5, Dylan had already undergone 26 operations and around half of the moles on his body were already removed.

“We’re holding onto hope that the moles never turn on and become cancerous, but he could develop cancer at any point,” his mother, Kara, told the Telegraph. “He has surgery every three to six months, dependent on which area of the body.”
The surprising part is the fact that despite his condition, Dylan is growing up happy.
“We are trying to do what’s best for him, we want to give him the fullest, longest life we possibly can,” Kara said to the Telegraph. “Dylan amazes me constantly, he always has a smile on his face and feels like he owns the hospital, all the nurses know and love him.”
Dylan is aware of his condition and even encounters strangers staring at him and so he would stop and explain his condition.
“Once in a supermarket a store manager asked us to leave because one of their customers was upset about having seen our child, which was very upsetting,” Kara said.
Despite his condition, Dylan’s mom was never afraid of showing him in public. In fact, they even started a Facebook page for her to update people on his journey.
